Greeting by the Chairman
It is our great pleasure to announce that the 137th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan (AMPSJ) will be held on March 24 (Fri.) to 27 (Mon.), 2017, at the Sendai International Center and the Tohoku University Kawauchi Campus in Sendai, under the theme, “The Future of Pharmaceutical Sciences: Reconstruction and Evolution”. The upcoming AMPSJ will be organized jointly by Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku Medical and Pharmaceutical University and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University.
This will be the first AMPSJ held in Sendai since the 126th AMPSJ held 11 years ago in 2006. In the meantime, the Sendai area was struck by the Great East Japan Earthquake. We would like to express our deepest appreciation for the outpouring of support received from those in and outside of Japan in the wake of the earthquake, which has made it possible to hold the next AMPSJ in Sendai. The areas that suffered significant damage still have a long road ahead to reconstruction. However, we are moving forward and would be grateful for your continued support.
The fields of pharmaceutical sciences are required various changes to respond the new education curriculum and the latest environment of pharmaceutical development. At the same time, the fields have been now recognized as one of the core future industries of Japan.
I hope that the 137th AMPSJ will serve as an occasion for academia, researchers of pharmaceutical and venture companies, and students in the basic and practical pharmaceutical sciences to come together to jointly examine and discuss the “future of pharmaceutical science” across the barriers of the fields. It is my earnest wish that, with your cooperation, the upcoming AMPSJ will provide an opportunity for participants to stimulate each other for realizing further strides.
In Sendai, a new convention center has been built, and the new International Center Station of the Tozai subway line has opened five minutes away from Sendai Station. The 137th AMPSJ will take advantage of these facilities to ensure a convenient meeting that is easily accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area and the rest of Japan. We welcome and look forward to the participation of many people.
